September has always been a time for fresh starts. A new academic year (with the new stationery that comes with it), a new season, Harvest, back to work after a summer holiday perhaps.
This year, more than ever before, September is the start of the next chapter for a lot of us. Companies' offices are starting to open up, employees are coming back off furlough, kids are heading back to school for the first time in six months.
It's time to reset. To start as we mean to go on. To take what we've learnt over the past six months and figure out how to weave those lessons into our new world of work.
At the heart of that is wellbeing. Through the crisis, it's been brilliant to see companies put wellbeing at the heart of their employee experience. And now, as we (hopefully) move slowly out of the global COVID-19 crisis, we're at risk of ending up in another global pandemic - a mental health crisis.
So while it might feel like we're 'through the worst', now is the time to take stock and to put wellbeing at the forefront of companies' future ways of working.
Which is why I'm launching 'The Reset Day'.
The Reset Day is a personalised full-day or half-day of yoga, meditation, mindfulness and stress reduction sessions, all tailored to each company's challenges and employee groups. Office/home-based employees who suffer from back pain or poor posture... construction site-based workers who need to stretch and soothe their muscles and minds... leaders who struggle to switch off and relax. I'll design a timetable of classes and workshops that tackle whatever your company needs.
For employees, it gives them the time and tools to look after their own mental and physical health. To plant that seed of selfcare and notice how good it feels. To give them the short period of 'time out' to reset and return to their desks more productive, focused, energised yet relaxed. To start creating small but powerful healthy habits that they can weave into everyday life.
For companies, it's a cost-effective, easy-to-implement way to kickstart your wellbeing campaign for the final quarter of 2020. To show employees that their wellbeing remains a priority, not just a 'lockdown perk'.
Longer term, the benefits of regular yoga and breathwork practice are numerous. Lower absence rates due to sickness and stress, more productive, happier employees. Even an improved bottom line. The list goes on so I've written about it in more detail here.
